Kabushiki Kaisha Bungakuza
History
1937年に作家の岸田國士、久保田万太郎、岩田豊雄が中心となって設立した劇団。俳優座(44年、青山杉作、千田是也らが設立)、民藝(50年、滝沢修、宇野重吉らが設立)と並んで「新劇御三家」と称され、戦後演劇の発展に寄与した。63年には二度にわたる多数の脱退者を出し(劇団雲、劇団NLTを設立)、小劇場運動の波に遭遇するも、杉村春子を中心として座名の通り文学性豊かな作品を上演、内外の新しい作家にも照準を合わせ、多彩な俳優・演出家を輩出した。
