Creating a new page for a company/organization

Basic rules

  • Follow conventions. There is Template for a page.

Wiki syntax

  • Wiki syntax (except for several advanced functions) apply to Media Wiki. For example,
Wikipedia Cheatsheet
Wikipedia How to Edit

Pages to create

(A)Required: Romanized title (e.g., Ohaio Shuritsu Daigaku)
(B)Advised: Japanese title (e.g., オハイオ州立大学)
(C)If available: English title (e.g., The Ohio State University)
  • (B) and (C) are connected with (A) by writing
#redirectOhaio Shuritsu Daigaku
Tip
  • If you are determined to create 2-3 pages at once, it will be faster to create (B) first.
(1) Type the Japanese name in the search box, and create (B).
(2) Write #redirectOhaio Shuritsu Daigaku, and save. (At the bottom, don't forget )
(3) Click the red words, and create (A).
(4) After making (A), create (C) and connect it with (A).

Categories

  • To make a category, type like the following examples:
                (Library)
      (Nikkei Goo Classification)
  (Nagao Bunko Classification)
          (*page type)
*As for Shashi(J), a pipe ( | ) is used for Japanese 50-on sorting. For example,

Without the pipe and kana description, the page is automatically sorted by the characters at the head (e.g., 「オ」「日」「松」etc.).

Search engine

  • Wiki Media does not search for the word with fewer than four letters. If you have specific concerns about the page for searching, it is advised to avoid two/three-letter words (e.g., OSU).

Other

  • Currently there is no fixed rule of transliterating 日本. It is either Nihon or Nippon. Simply follow Worldcat or follow it if you find either way used by the company/organization. But for the ease of searching, it is advised to create both pages (i.e., Roman alphabet) and connect one with the other.
