History
- 1871年、九十九商会（三菱商会の前身）が紀州新宮藩の炭鉱を租借し、鉱業部門に進出。
- 1873年、三菱商会（三菱合資会社の前身）が岡山県の吉岡鉱山を買収、金属鉱山事業に進出。
- 1893年、三菱合資会社が設立。
- 1918年、三菱鉱業（株）設立。三菱合資会社より炭鉱部、鉱山部、研究所を継承。
- 1973年、三菱鉱業（株）、三菱セメント（株）、豊国セメント（株）の3社が合併し、三菱鉱業セメント（株）が発足。
- 1990年、三菱金属と三菱鉱業セメントが合併し、「三菱マテリアル（株）」として発足。
